Regional Operations Manager
Our client is seeking a Regional Operations Manager to oversee multi-site distribution operations across the Upper Midwest. This individual will work closely with location leaders to strengthen operational performance, develop talent, standardize processes, and drive accountability across a regional network.
The ideal candidate is an experienced distribution leader who enjoys being in the field, coaching managers, improving processes, and building a strong operational structure that delivers consistent results across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee distribution and warehouse operations across multiple locations throughout the Upper Midwest.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse managers and location leaders to improve performance and accountability.
- Establish consistent operating procedures, performance standards, and best practices across all locations.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess operations, identify improvement opportunities, and support execution of key initiatives.
- Drive improvements in inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, warehouse productivity, transportation, and customer service.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Partner with sales, procurement, finance, and other departments to improve coordination and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee transportation and fleet performance, inventory controls, facilities, and regulatory compliance.
- Support budgeting, cost control, capacity planning, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and technology across the distribution network.
- Ensure improvements are sustained by developing local leadership capabilities and establishing clear accountability.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Experience leading multi-site or regional operations preferred.
- Background in building materials, commercial construction supply, industrial distribution, or a related distribution environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold operational leaders accountable.
- Experience improving warehouse processes, inventory management, transportation, and operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of distribution operations and multi-location performance management.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, inventory management, and operational reporting systems.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving organizational change.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the region, including overnight travel as needed (30% - 50%).
