Senior Accountant

SkyWater is excited to be partnering with a rapidly growing company in the Twin Cities to help them identify a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role works closely with accounting leadership and serves as a key contributor to financial reporting accuracy, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. The Senior Accountant will play an important role in supporting monthly close, strengthening accounting operations, and helping scale systems and processes as the organization continues to expand.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accuracy in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Support and execute monthly close processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Review and reconcile high-volume transactions and complex account activity
  • Perform detailed inventory reconciliations and collaborate cross-functionally to improve accuracy and turnover metrics
  • Prepare and review cash activity, including daily banking transactions and cash flow reporting
  • Conduct operating expense variance analysis and provide insights to leadership
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate corrections
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex topics including lease accounting, revenue recognition, and evolving standards
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with internal controls
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to external auditor inquiries
  • Support acquisition-related accounting activities, including due diligence, opening balance sheet validation, and integration support
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and control effectiveness
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience; CPA or CPA-track preferred
  • Experience with inventory accounting and high-volume transaction environments
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required
  • ERP system experience preferred
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
