Sr. Mechanical Engineer
SkyWater is partnering with a unique and growing engineering firm in the Minneapolis area to help find a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their growing team! This person will have the opportunity to work on high-profile, one-of-a-kind projects from concept through installation. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will design large & complex, mechanized structures for clients across a variety of industries (entertainment, aerospace, etc.) and will work on projects across the US. Our client is a growing small business that has built a strong reputation for engineering excellence and custom solutions in their industry. Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on mechanical design work including detailed calculations, component selection, and development of custom assemblies (drive systems, gears, linear & rotary motion components, structural weldments, etc.).
- Engage in design reviews and technical meetings with external project stakeholders.
- Oversee prototype development and testing activities. Document findings and incorporate results into final designs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on design projects (engineering teams, purchasing/procurement, manufacturing, etc.).
- Identify opportunities to improve product designs and work with leadership to make these improvements.
- Occasional travel to project sites (mainly domestic and under 10% travel).
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
- 5+ years of engineering experience within mechanical, design or related engineering positions.
- Experience designing large, custom mechanical systems or equipment is highly preferred.
- PE or EIT certification a plus.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
