System Engineer
SkyWater Search has partnered with a growing trading technology firm that is looking to add a mid-level Systems Engineer to their team in downtown Chicago.
This role will work closely with senior engineers and leadership to build and scale the core infrastructure powering a high-performance trading platform. The environment is fast-paced, highly technical, and collaborative, with plenty of opportunities to solve complex challenges.
Compensation: $130K–$170K + bonus
Location: Chicago, IL (onsite)

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency systems software. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed systems. Contribute to infrastructure scalability and performance improvements. Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support platform development. Apply deep understanding of system usage and design decisions.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience). 4–5 years of professional experience writing system-level code in C#, C++, or similar. Strong knowledge of operating system internals (Windows or Linux). Deep understanding of networking fundamentals. Familiarity with distributed/high-throughput systems. Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments. Bonus: Experience with kernel bypass technologies, performance tuning, allocations, and GC.
