CFO Succession | Transformational Leadership Opportunity

SkyWater is excited to partner with a leading Midwest-based nonprofit healthcare organization (~$500M revenue) as they bring on a Vice President of Finance to step into a clearly defined CFO succession plan within 6-9 months. 

This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven organization at scale while shaping the future of its financial strategy and infrastructure.

Initially focused on operational finance leadership, you will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regional finance teams across a multi-site organization. In short order, you will transition into the CFO role, assuming responsibility for enterprise financial strategy, capital planning, treasury, revenue cycle, and technology alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and strengthen enterprise operational finance, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management across a multi-site organization
  • Provide direct oversight and development of regional finance leadership, ensuring alignment between financial results and operational execution
  • Drive financial performance improvement initiatives, including margin expansion, cost management, and KPI standardization across communities
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to Operations, Executive Leadership Team, and the Board, translating financial insights into actionable decisions
  • Oversee and enhance the annual budgeting and long-range planning processes, including scenario modeling and capital allocation support
  • Assess and optimize finance structure, talent, and workflows, ensuring the right people are in the right roles to support growth and scalability
  • Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Revenue Cycle, IT, and Business Intelligence to ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and actionable insights
  • Identify and implement systems and process improvements, modernizing financial infrastructure and reducing reliance on manual/Excel-based processes
  • Evaluate and support growth initiatives, including acquisitions, partnerships, and capital investments through financial modeling and due diligence
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including lenders, auditors, and strategic partners

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership (CPA required)
  • Experience in complex, multi-entity environments (healthcare preferred)
  • Strong operational and strategic finance capabilities
  • Track record of driving performance improvement and systems modernization
  • Executive presence with ability to partner at the board level
