An AmLaw 200 firm with a national platform is seeking a litigation associate with 3+ years of experience to join its business and commercial litigation practice in New York. The work spans high-stakes litigation, arbitration, and trial matters.
Qualifications
3–6 years of commercial and business litigation experience
Experience preparing pleadings, motions, and briefing on complex matters
Proficiency with e-discovery and fact development
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to work through complex factual, legal, and logistical issues
Eligibility for admission or an active New York license; judicial clerkship experience preferred
The Opportunity
A small, growing New York office recently expanded into larger space to support continued hiring, the day-to-day feel of a boutique with the resources of a national platform behind you
Business litigation practice with a deep financial services and class action bench
1,850 billable hour target, with base salary set against that target
Paid bar dues, bar association memberships, and CLE expenses
Competitive benefits package, including generous leave policies
Compensation: $215,000–$250,000 base depending on experience, plus a discretionary merit bonus.
A financial services firm is adding an attorney to its New York legal department to support its credit and structured products businesses. This is a newly created position on a small legal team, reporting to a senior in-house lawyer.
The core of the role
Documentation for secondary loan trading in distressed situations. Credit agreements, security agreements, and intercreditor arrangements under both U.S. and European market standards, along with documentation for less conventional transactions.
The rest of it
Support for warehouse lending, asset-based facilities, and securitization matters, including review of transaction documents and legal opinions across several asset classes. There is also a general in-house component: monitoring regulatory developments affecting the platform, managing outside counsel and legal spend, and handling confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, and related matters.
You will work directly with the business rather than through layers, which means early ownership of substantive workstreams and regular contact with the people generating the transactions.
Requirements
3-5 years of finance, banking, or structured finance experience at a well regarded law firm. In-house experience at a financial institution also considered.
Hands on experience with syndicated loan documentation involving distressed assets. Familiarity with both U.S. and European market standards is a differentiator. This is the requirement that is not flexible.
JD and active admission to the New York bar in good standing
Exposure to structured finance is welcome but not required
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Base salary of $200,000 to $225,000 depending on experience. The role is bonus eligible. Comprehensive benefits. Three days per week in office.
