This role owns company-wide messaging standards, communication channels, and publishing cadence, ensuring communications enable business execution, strengthen trust, and reduce risk in a complex, operationally intensive enterprise.

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, this position plays a critical role in translating strategy, operational activity, and leadership decisions into clear, actionable communication for employees and contract partners first, with external audiences as a secondary priority. The Director of Communications serves as a member of the Leadership Council and provides proactive consultation on communication strategy, stakeholder sentiment, and issue readiness.

This is not a traditional external communications or marketing role. Success requires a leader who can drive internal communication strategy while also owning execution from concept through rollout.

Success in this role requires strategic judgment, strong organizational awareness, leadership maturity, and the ability to operate with urgency, accountability, and ownership across high-visibility initiatives.

Major Areas of Accountability
Enterprise Communications Strategy

Translate leadership decisions, operational priorities, and business performance into clear, relevant, and actionable communications.
Enable effective execution by ensuring employees and contract partners understand expectations, priorities, and changes.
Ensure leaders are equipped to communicate effectively, providing guidance, coaching, and structure as needed.
Own end-to-end execution of key communication initiatives (e.g., town halls, major rollouts), not just content development.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a communications team of 2–3 professionals.
Establish clear expectations, accountability, and development pathways for team members including elevating the team beyond execution into more strategic partnership roles.
Provide direct coaching and performance management as needed, given the relative inexperience of the current team.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.
Serve as a trusted leader who models sound judgment, credibility, and professionalism.
Stakeholder Sentiment, Listening & Insight
Own stakeholder sentiment across employees, contract partners, and other key internal and external audiences.
Establish listening mechanisms to assess understanding, engagement, and emerging concerns.
Use insight to influence leadership decisions and continuously refine communication strategy and execution.
Serve as an organizational “early warning system” for misalignment, confusion, or risk.
Change Communication & Organizational Transformation
Lead communication strategy for organizational change initiatives, ensuring clarity, alignment, and adoption.
Partner closely with business and PMO teams to support major initiatives (e.g., ERP implementation).
Bring practical, experience-based change leadership (not dependent on formal methodologies).
Potential to expand scope to include change management leadership over time.

Engagement, Events & Philanthropy
Maintain a visible presence in the organization and local community.
Lead planning and execution of company events, engagement activities, and community presence efforts.
Oversee philanthropic giving and community involvement to ensure alignment with organizational values and priorities.

Own the company’s crisis communications strategy and crisis response plan, including preparation and readiness.
Monitor external events, issues, and trends that could create internal risk or require organizational response.
Lead communications during crises or sensitive situations, coordinating closely with leadership, HR, operations, and legal.
Serve as the final authority on communications strategy and execution during crisis situations.
Enterprise Partnership & Business Impact
Serve as an active, proactive member of the Leadership Council.
Support enterprise-wide initiatives through disciplined communication planning and execution.
Ensure communications directly enable execution, reduce risk, and strengthen organizational trust.
Contribute to long-term organizational effectiveness, engagement, and reputation.
External, Community & Industry Communications
Oversee external communications, including social media and community-facing messaging.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and industry organizations.
Ensure the organization’s external voice is authentic, accurate, and aligned with internal realities.
Support recruitment and partnership efforts through credible and consistent communications.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements
Professional Background
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field required.
10+ years of progressive communications experience, with a strong emphasis on internal communications.
Demonstrated expertise in internal communications, change communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Proven experience leading crisis communications and issue management.
Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, operations-heavy, or asset-intensive environments preferred.
Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism consistent with a closely held enterprise.

Leadership & Capability

  • Location: Minnetonka, Minnesota
  • Type: Direct Hire
  • Job #52566

We’re partnering with a highly specialized, boutique B2B marketing agency that operates at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and commercialization, primarily within the medtech and healthcare innovation space.
This is a tight-knit, senior team (?8 people) that works directly with some of the most innovative and well-funded companies in the world, helping bring complex, life-changing products to market.
Unlike larger agencies, this team is:

  • Deeply embedded with clients (often acting as an extension of their marketing team)
  • Hands-on across the full lifecycle from strategy through execution
  • Known for precision, quality, and trust in a highly regulated environment

They’ve been around for 30+ years, are financially stable, and are intentionally staying small, nimble, and high-impact.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an Account Manager (or strong Senior Coordinator) to step into a role where you’ll quickly become indispensable to both clients and internal teams.
This is not a “sit back and observe” role.
You’ll be:

  • At the center of client communication
  • Driving project execution across multiple workstreams
  • Ensuring nothing falls through the cracks in a fast-moving environment

Within 6 months, the goal is for you to:

  • Own day-to-day client interactions
  • Run meetings and manage communication confidently
  • Act as the operational backbone for key accounts

If you’re someone who wants real responsibility early and the chance to learn directly from senior leaders, this is that kind of role.
What You’ll Do

  • Own day-to-day coordination across multiple client accounts and projects
  • Prepare for and help lead client meetings (agendas, notes, follow-ups, next steps)
  • Translate client feedback into clear direction for internal creative and production teams
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and approvals across fast-moving workstreams
  • Open, track, and traffic projects to ensure work is moving forward efficiently
  • Review and proof deliverables with a high level of accuracy (critical in medtech)
  • Monitor scope, flag risks early, and help manage budgets and resourcing
  • Jump in on ad hoc client needs (presentations, materials, updates)
  • Support light social media and content coordination for select clients and internal marketing efforts

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients feel confident, supported, and never in the dark
  • Projects move forward smoothly, on time, and with minimal fire drills
  • Internal teams are aligned, clear, and set up for success
  • You become a trusted point of contact for day-to-day client needs

Ideal Background

  • 1–5 years in account management, client services, or project coordination (agency experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable interacting with clients directly
  • Experience working cross-functionally with creative, strategy, or production teams
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong proofing/editing instincts

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to healthcare, medtech, or other complex/regulated industries
  • Familiarity with tools like Basecamp, Asana, or Monday

Who Thrives Here
This role is a fit for someone who:

  • Takes ownership, you don’t wait to be told what to do
  • Is highly organized and naturally detail-oriented
  • Cares deeply about doing things right, not just getting them done
  • Is comfortable in a role that blends account management + project management
  • Can balance being a client advocate with understanding internal constraints
  • Is proactive, communicative, and doesn’t let things slip

This is NOT the right fit if you:

  • Are looking for a highly structured, layered agency environment
  • Want a clear, fast track to promotion into leadership
  • Prefer to stay purely strategic or purely executional

Why This Role

  • Work directly with cutting-edge medtech companies and innovations
  • Gain exposure to high-level strategy and commercialization work
  • Be part of a collaborative, low-ego, supportive team
  • Learn from experienced leadership in a hands-on environment
  • Have meaningful impact in a small, nimble agency where your work matters
  • Hybrid flexibility (with strong team culture and in-person collaboration)

Director of Paid Media

We’re partnering with Harley-Davidson, an iconic, globally recognized consumer brand with deep heritage and one of the most emotionally connected customer bases in its category. The business operates through a dealer-driven model, requiring tight alignment between national marketing strategy and local execution.

The company is currently evolving its marketing approach, moving from a historically performance-heavy model to a more integrated, full-funnel strategy that better connects brand storytelling with measurable business outcomes.

The Opportunity

This is a critical role in modernizing how media drives growth.

Today, media has been heavily focused on lower-funnel performance metrics. The opportunity is to build a more balanced, full-funnel media strategy, one that supports brand building while still delivering measurable results at the dealer level.

You will play a central role in connecting national campaigns to local impact, while helping the organization think differently about measurement, attribution, and media effectiveness.

  • Manage and optimize a significant media investment, ensuring both efficiency and impact

  • Translate brand and product priorities into clear, actionable media plans

  • Connect national media efforts to dealer-level outcomes and performance

  • Evolve attribution and measurement approaches to better capture long-term and full-journey impact

  • Partner closely with brand, creative, retail, and analytics teams to deliver integrated campaigns

  • Lead external agency partners and ensure strong strategic and executional alignment

What Success Looks Like

  • Media strategy evolves from primarily lower-funnel to true full-funnel orchestration

  • Improved ability to connect media investment to both brand and business outcomes

  • Stronger alignment between national campaigns and dealer-level performance

  • More sophisticated use of data, testing, and measurement

  • Cross-functional teams operate in a more integrated and collaborative way

  • Media becomes a strategic driver of growth, not just a support function

Ideal Background

  • 10–15+ years of experience in paid media, performance marketing, or integrated media strategy

  • Experience managing large-scale media budgets

  • Deep expertise across modern media channels and platforms

  • Strong understanding of full-funnel strategy and attribution models

  • Experience working within complex or distributed business models (dealer, retail, franchise, etc.)

  • Background in either in-house brand environments or leading agencies

Who Thrives Here

  • Strategic thinkers who are also hands-on problem solvers

  • Individuals comfortable navigating ambiguity and change

  • Leaders who collaborate effectively across teams and functions

  • People who balance data-driven thinking with practical execution

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to help build a modern media function within an iconic brand

  • High-impact role with visibility across marketing and leadership

  • Chance to shape how media contributes to both brand and business growth

  • A role that blends strategy, analytics, and execution
