Chief Financial Officer

  • Location: Arden Hills, Minnesota
  • Type: Direct Hire
  • Job #52783

Chief Financial Officer | Minneapolis, MN

SkyWater Search Partners is excited to be partnering with a rapidly growing, institutionally-backed financial services platform based in the Twin Cities to identify a Chief Financial Officer to join their leadership team.

This firm operates one of the most active and acquisitive financial services consolidation platforms in the country, with over $9 billion in assets under management across 22 partner firms and a portfolio that continues to scale through strategic acquisitions. Backed by a privately funded holding company with a long-term ownership mindset, this is not a traditional corporate environment. It is a high-growth, transaction-oriented business where the CFO will have direct visibility to senior ownership and a meaningful seat at the table as the firm prepares for continued institutional growth – including engagement with major private equity and credit partners.

This is a rare opportunity for a finance leader who wants to step into a true enterprise-level CFO role at a company that is actively scaling, building institutional credibility, and has a strong succession plan in place from an existing, tenured CFO who will support the transition.

The Opportunity

As CFO, you will oversee the full finance and accounting function for the company and its portfolio of firms, leading a team of approximately 10 accounting and finance professionals. This role is both a technical finance seat and a strategic leadership position. You will be responsible for guiding the company through continued acquisitions, building out enterprise-level financial infrastructure, and serving as the primary finance voice to institutional partners, equity groups, and the ownership team. The current CFO is transitioning into a specialized role and will remain in the building as a resource — providing an unusually strong foundation for a new leader stepping in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting, finance, and reporting functions across the parent entity and its portfolio companies
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison to institutional partners, equity groups, and ownership in strategic meetings and presentations
  • Drive enterprise financial strategy including forecasting, capital planning, and performance analysis across a multi-entity structure
  • Own the acquisition accounting process, including due diligence support, entity integration, and post-close financial management
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 10 accounting and finance professionals
  • Build out scalable financial infrastructure and reporting systems as the business grows
  • Partner closely with the President and senior leadership on operational and strategic finance initiatives

Qualifications

  • CPA required; MBA or additional credentials a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with direct CFO or senior finance leadership experience preferred
  • Background in financial services strongly preferred; RIA, insurance, or wealth management industry experience is a significant advantage
  • Prior experience with acquisitions, multi-entity structures, and institutional stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to lead a finance team and operate as a strategic partner to executive leadership
  • Strong communication and executive presence — this person will represent the firm at the highest levels
  • Experience with private equity-backed or institutionally-oriented businesses is a plus
  • Local to or willing to relocate to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro; this is a full-time, in-office role

The Role
You will design, enhance, and troubleshoot real-time software systems that control complex capital equipment used in electrophysiology procedures. This includes device control, data acquisition, and visualization within a highly regulated environment.

Key Requirements
• 5+ years in medical device software development
• Proficiency in Java and C/C++, ideally in embedded or real-time systems
• Experience with FDA standards (IEC 62304, Class II/III)
• Strong debugging, system-level thinking, and cross-functional collaboration
• Exposure to Azure DevOps or modern SDLC tools preferred
